Why should you go glamping this spring? Read on to learn cinco excellent reasons!

Spring is in the air. The days are getting longer, the flowers are starting to bloom and everyone is outside soaking up some much needed sunlight. This welcome transition from winter also marks the beginning of vacation season. With so many places to go and things to do, planning your next trip involves making decisions and often compromises. Whether your usual travel plans involve camping, road tripping, bed & breakfasts or 5-star hotels, everyone has their preferences. One of the most hit-or-miss vacation choices is camping.

Many know from experience that there are two types of people in the world. Those who love to camp and those who do not. Camping can be an amazing experience for those who don’t mind putting in the effort and getting a little dirty. But what if you have travel buds or spouses that cannot forgo creature comforts like a warm bed and a hot shower? This is where Glamping comes in. Glamping is opening the world of camping to an entire new audience by offering the best of camping without the roughing-it aspects of camping.

Uno. Minimal Packing

When you pack your bag for a vacation where you will be staying at a hotel, there is not a whole lot that can go wrong. If you remember your personal items, clothing, and camera, you are pretty much covered. Camping, on the other hand, requires significantly more effort. If you forget a sleeping bag, a lighter, or (heaven-forbid) the tent, you may be in for a rough night. So, how do you pack for Glamping? Do you need a tent? No. Do you need a sleeping bag? No. Do you need firewood, lighters, or food? No. No. No. Conestoga Ranch’s Glamping tents and wagons are fully outfitted with hotel-style beds (Kings and Twins) and comfy linens. Restrooms, located en-suite in the Grand Tents and in our central bathhouse for guests in Traditional Tents and Wagons, are stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

As if hot water and fresh towels while camping wasn’t exciting enough, our rainfall shower heads bring it to a new level of luxury. As for other camping essentials such as firewood, lighters, and food, there is no need to fuss. Conestoga Ranch not only provides firewood, but also a fire valet service to light and maintain your campfire. Also, feel free to leave the oatmeal and propane stoves behind as our beautiful open-air on-property restaurant, the Campfire Grill Restaurant, can take care of all the cooking for you. So, what do you need to pack? Personal items, weather appropriate clothing, beach towel and a camera.

Dos. S’mores and Stargazing

One of the greatest parts of camping and glamping alike is enjoying the great outdoors from around the warmth of your campfire. The Bear Lake area has very little light pollution and thus offers an unforgettable view of the stars. What better way is there to enjoy this view than while toasting up some delicious s’mores? Conestoga Ranch provides guests with s’mores kits upon check in. That’s right! No need to bring your own supplies, we have you covered: graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate, roasting sticks and all.

Tres. Disconnect and Reconnect

Sometimes it feels like we are trapped by our devices and as if we are lost without them. Camping often means going without service, chargers, or wifi. For some people, this is terrifying. Glampers do not have to choose nature over their technology, instead they have the option to balance them. At Conestoga Ranch you will have service, electricity for charging your phone and resort-wide WiFi. You can choose to stay connected or unplug completely. Last year we saw hundreds of guests (especially the kiddos) arrive with their iPads in hand. However, after checking in, most of these devices were replaced by bean bags, raspberry shakes and roasting sticks. Something about being outside makes the desire to focus on spending time with friends and family so much stronger. Being outside together helps everyone reconnect.

Cuatro. Unwind

Glamping allows you to unwind and relax on a new level. It is a unique balance to be surrounded by nature as well as the comforts of home. There is something indescribable about falling asleep in a pillowy king-sized bed to the sounds of a crackling campfire and crickets, then waking up to the glow of the sun on your tent and singing birds. After a refreshing night of sleep there are so many ways to spend your day.  Fantastic outdoor adventures await you such as hiking through the wild flowers on one of the hundreds of nearby trail, riding one of our complimentary cruiser bikes along the Garden City Bike Path, or spending the day on the lake paddle boarding, fishing, or boating. Spring is an amazing time for these activities as the temperature hovers around 65 – 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
